It is part of the Weirton-Steubenville, WV-OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. ==History== Bergholz had its start in 1883 when the railroad was built through that territory in order to access a mine. The settlement was named Bergholz in honor of the mine owner. It was incorporated as a village in 1906.
